7:42 a.m.: assist citizen, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington Street, a caller reports he has locked his keys in his vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was gained;
8:19 a.m.: recovered motor vehicle, Mainline Drive, a caller reports a vehicle left at the caller’s business may have been stolen, the dispatcher reports the vehicle was reported to have been stolen in Agawam, the responding officer reports the vehicle was found in close proximity to a location where a car had been reported to have been stolen hours earlier;
8:32 a.m.: found property, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington St., a debit card was found in the station and the owner could not be located, the card was tagged and stored for safe keeping;
9:09 a.m.: animal complaint, Union Street, an off duty officer reports a very sick fox is in the area, the director of animal control operations reports he was unable to approach the animal closely enough to take any action;
12:27 p.m.: vandalism, Church Street, a local businesswoman called to report that three flowerpots in the alleyway have been tipped over again, the woman said that the incidence of flowerpot tipping seems to correlate with the academic year;
2:58 p.m.: suspicious activity, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he observed middle school youths carrying 12 containers of ice cream and frozen yogurt who said that an unidentified woman had given them the frozen treats, the officer reports that his investigation found that a Broad Street social service agency had excessive amounts o f ice cream and gave it away to children who were walking home from school;
3:26 p.m.: breaking and entering, Southampton Road, a caller reports that the rear window of his SUV was smashed and his computer was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that he had been in a Southampton Road restaurant for about 45 minutes and returned to his company vehicle to find the window of the SUV had been smashed, a briefcase containing a laptop computer was stolen;
5:42 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a detective requests a marked unit for a traffic stop, the vehicle was found to be unregistered and had failed a safety inspection, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
5:47 p.m.: incapacitated person, Sycamore Street, a patrol officer reports a known male party is too intoxicated to care for himself, the man was placed in protective custody.
