Midnight: liquor law violations, Meadow Street, a community policing officer reports liquor law violations; the CP officer reports city ordinance violation citations were issued to two parties;
12:33 a.m.: liquor law violations, Elm Street, community policing officers report a liquor law violation, the CP officers report a city ordinance violation citations were issued;
12:44 arrest, Church Street, an anonymous caller reports the location of the subject of an outstanding warrant, the responding officers reports the resident acknowledged that the suspect was in the residence and showed the officers where he was sleeping on the floor in a back bedroom, David J. Mitchell, 30, of 44 Church St., was arrested on two warrants without incident;
2:22 a.m.: suspicious activity, Montgomery Street, a caller reports seeing a man enter a neighbor’s garage, see story in the Monday edition of The Westfield News;
2:58 a.m.: animal complaint, East Silver Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a stray dog almost get struck by a vehicle, the officer took custody of the dog and transported it to the station when he could not immediately contact its owner, the owner came to the station at 6:48 a.m. to take custody of her dog;
3:05 a.m.: arrest, Main Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a known juvenile male who was believed to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, the boy was stopped, the warrant was confirmed, the 16-year-old boy was arrested on the warrant;
8:46 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Friendly’s Way, a traffic bureau officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and non-renewable, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
9:17 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Montgomery Road, a traffic bureau officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and non-renewable, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
11:38 a.m.: found property, Woronoco Avenue, a caller reports a bicycle has been left on the lawn for a few days, the responding officer reports the bike was transported to the station for safe keeping;
1:35 p.m.: arrest, Birch Road, a caller reports the possible location of the subject of outstanding warrants, the responding officer reports that the resident acknowledged that the suspect was there and asked him to step outside to speak with the officer, the suspect was advised of the warrants which were confirmed, Dwan Thompson, 21, of 229 Miller St., Ludlow, was arrested on two warrants without incident;
1:49 p.m.: assist other police department, Franklin Street, Environmental Police requests assistance serving a warrant, the responding officer reports the warrant was confirmed and EP officer reported the suspect’s location, Victor L. Ramos, 41, of 104 Meadow St., was arrested on the warrant;
3:22 p.m.: animal complaint, Franklin Street, a caller reports a stray poodle dog, a responding animal control officer reports she took custody of the dog and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
5:03 p.m.: found property, Elm Street, a resident came to the station with a wallet he reported finding on Elm Street, the responding officer reports an attempt to return the wallet to its owner was not successful, the wallet was held at the station for safe keeping;
5:21 p.m.: vandalism, Prospect Street, a caller reports hearing a crack and discovering a hole in his front window, the responding officer reports the caller said that a hole was discovered in his picture window which is consistent with a BB or pellet impact, no projectile was found;
5:44 p.m.: officer wanted, Wyben Road, a caller reports persons are shooting in his neighbor’s yard, the responding officer reports he found that the man’s neighbor was discharging a firearm within 500 feet of his neighbor’s dwelling although he was firing in the opposite direction, the suspect was advised of the complaint and of the repercussions possible if police again respond to a similar complaint;
6:29 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Orange Street, a traffic bureau officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
7:20 p.m.: animal complaint, Susan Drive, a caller reports his dog was attacked and seriously injured when a neighbor’s dog escaped from his yard, an animal control officer was notified and reports that the caller said that the offending pit bull dog escapes frequently and has attacked other dogs and people in the past, the caller said that he will take his dog to a vet for medical treatment and said that the owners of the offending dog have agreed to pay the veterinarian’s bill for the injured dog, the ACO reports she will consult her superior;
9:00 p.m.: disturbance, Powder Mil Village, 126 Union St., a resident came to the station to report he was assaulted by his girlfriend, the responding officer reports the man said  that at about 9:20 p.m. during an argument his girlfriend struck his face and head repeatedly until he grabbed her neck and pushed her into a chair where the woman scratched him, the man showed the officer scratches on his waist but the officer noted no signs of injury to his face or head, the woman had left the apartment and the officer was not able to reach her by phone, the man said his report of the incident was delayed because he had to walk to the station;
10:40 p.m.: breaking and entering, a caller reports his home was burglarized and several items are missing, the responding officer reports the caller said that his girlfriend had gone to visit her mother in Greenfield at the same time her mother had been at her Westfield residence, the caller said that when his girlfriend did meet with her mother in Greenfield an argument ensued resulting a declaration by the older woman that she was taking custody of her grandchildren, Greenfield police responded do deal with the custody issue and items found in the older woman’s possession were found to have been stolen from her daughter’s apartment;

Monday, Sept. 17, 2012
8:44 a.m.: counterfeiting, East Main Street, a caller from an East Main Street fast food restaurant said that a customer offered a counterfeit $20 bill, the responding officer reports the manager said that a male party offered an obviously bogus $20 in payment for his order at the drive up window, the officer was told that when an employee queried the man he left without waiting for his order, West Springfield police were asked to check the address the vehicle is registered to and reported nobody was home, the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the detective bureau;
9:33 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Bates Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
2:05 p.m.: city ordinance violation, Family Lane, a code enforcement officer reports he observed signs advertising a past tag sale are still posted on poles, the officer reports he removed the signs and returned them to the address of the tag sale so he could advise the resident of the pertinent city ordinance;
2:50 p.m.: arrest, Orange Street, a juvenile male party came to the station to report that he is the subject of an outstanding Child In Need of Services warrant, the warrant was confirmed and 15-year-old boy was arrested;
3:05 p.m.: animal complaint, a caller reports taking custody of a stray dog, a responding animal control officer reports she transported the dog to the Westfield Animal Shelter;
5:31 p.m.: arrest, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports seeing the subject of outstanding warrants in a residence at the apartment complex, a responding officer reports the resident said that the suspect was in the apartment and allowed the officers entry, the officer reports that the suspect punched an officer in the face and got on his back before a Taser was employed and the man was subdued, Luis Vega, 19, of 44 Mechanic Street, was arrested for resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer and on four warrants;
5:41 p.m.: larceny, Mechanic Street, a resident came to the station to report a registration plate was stolen, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he had already reported the stolen plate to Westfield State University police but said that he lives on Mechanic Street and it may have been stolen there;
7:56 p.m.: harassment, Woronoco Avenue, a resident came to the station to complain of harassment by a neighbor, the respond officer reports the issue is a longstanding neighborly dispute, the officer report he spoke with both parties and advised them of their option and of the possible repercussions if their situation requires police intervention.
