1:28 a.m.: larceny, Washington House, 16 Washington St., a caller reports he found his prescription pills missing after a visit to a friend at Washington House, the responding officer reports the caller said that he had recently filled a prescription which he believes was stolen while he was at a Washington House apartment, the responding officer reports he was not able to retrieve the pills at the apartment the man had been visiting;
1:43 a.m.: assist other police department, a patrol officer reports he assisted a state trooper who discovered a vehicle with two occupants who appeared to be stealing inventory stored outside a Springfield Road business, Michael T. Wellspeak, 49, of 26 Howard St., Springfield, was arrested for trespass with a vehicle, vandalizing a fence, larceny of property valued more than $250, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and failure to notify the Registry of Motor Vehicles of a name or address change, Amy L. Benjamin, 41, of 158 Berkshire Ave., Southwick, was arrested for larceny of property valued more than $250 and for trespass;
8:36 a.m.: larceny, Crown Street, a caller reports his home was entered while he was sleeping and wallets were stolen, the responding officer reports the residents said that when they woke they found a rear window open and the front door ajar, the male resident said that his wallet which had been atop the television and the woman said her wallet was stolen from her designer purse, the wallets contained about $400 in cash as well as the usual documents, the residents said that only two neighbors had ever been inside the residence;
10:56 a.m.: school investigation, Westfield Vocational Technical High School (upper campus), 69 Smith Ave., a school resource officer reports that while engaged in an unrelated project with the domestic violence coordinator they observed a former pupil at the school who had previously been served with a ‘No trespassing’ order, a criminal complaint was filed;
12:16 p.m.: school investigation, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, a school resource officer reports that he was advised of a fight between pupils which was over when he arrived at the scene of the disturbance, the officer found that a school investigation determined that one of the boys was the primary instigator of the fight and a criminal complaint for assault and battery was filed, the SRO reports that the school will take administrative sanctions against each boy;
3:53 p.m.: vandalism, McKinley Terrace, a caller reports the rear window of her car was shattered and she has a suspect in mind, the responding officer reports the woman showed him the window which appeared to have been shattered by a baseball bat or similar instrument, the woman identified a former friend she said has been harassing her;
4:03 p.m.: disturbance, East Mountain Road, a caller reports a male party in a vehicle parked in a driveway is involved in a domestic disturbance, the responding officer reports an adult woman said that her father had struck her during an argument in the car, the officer noted a laceration above the woman’s eye, Frederick La Hay, 59, of 188 County Road, Southampton, was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
4:47 p.m.: animal complaint, Main Street, a caller reports a skunk in the back yard is shaking and falling down and she is concerned because a neighbor is approaching the animal, the responding officer reports he found that the skunk had sprayed and was confined in a box, no animal control officer responded and the officer reports he was unwilling to dispatch the sick animal on site because of children who would witness its death, the skunk was transported to the municipal animal shelter where it was euthanized;
4:53 p.m.: burning complaint, Summit Drive, a caller reports an odor of smoke is obvious but a fire has not been located, the responding fire captain reports a resident found burning material outside was advised of the complaint and extinguished the fire;
6:37 p.m.: animal complaint, Crest Lane, a caller reports he has taken custody of a stray pit bull dog found in the woods, an animal control officer responded and transported the dog to the municipal animal shelter;
7:43 p.m.: annoying phone calls, Sibley Avenue, a resident came to the station to complain of an attempt to elicit personal information, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he had received a call from a person who said that a problem had been detected with his computer and asked for personal information in order to repair the computer issue, the man declined the caller’s offer.
