Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013
7:26 a.m.: assist other police department, Shaker Road, police report that a vehicle fleeing police crashed into a utility pole, see stories in the Thursday and Friday editions of The Westfield News;
1:37 p.m.: accident, Mechanic Street, a caller reports low hanging wires, the responding officer reports power and service lines were pulled down by a passing truck, the G&E was notified and dispatched a crew to re-connect the damaged wires;
3:53 p.m.: breaking and entering, Crown Street, a caller report s his chain saw has been stolen from his garage, the responding officer reports the caller said that the chain saw was seen in place about 10:30 p.m. but was missing in the morning, the man said there are no signs of forcible entry but his hidden key to the garage is missing;
6:17 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
10:44 p.m.: disturbance, Woronoco Avenue, a caller reports a college aged party is disturbing his peace, the responding officer reports he spoke with a resident who said he was hosting a get-together for the football team, the officer reports the residents were very cooperative and the guests were dispersed without incident;
11:45 p.m.: disturbance, Orange Street, a caller reports he observed a group of men walking on Orange Street and saw one of them throw a rock through a vehicle’s windshield, the responding officer reports the caller said that the man had fled, a witness said that he saw a man break the vehicle’s windshield and mirror and when he remonstrated with the suspect the man punched his face and chipped a tooth but fled when a companion intervened, the officer reports the suspect was identified and the owner of the vehicle said that the man has issues with his daughter, a criminal complaint was filed
