12:35 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop for speeding, the officer reports the operator’s license was found to be suspended and a bag of what appeared to be crack cocaine was found in a cup holder which both the operator and the passenger denied ownership of, Scott A. King, 54, of 1246 Granby Road, Chicopee, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, possession of a Class B drug (a subsequent offense) and speeding, Michael J. Gibson, 40, of 95 Ward St., Chicopee, was arrested for possession of a Class B drug (a subsequent offense);
12:24 p.m.: suspicious person, Casimir Street, a caller reports her son was approached by a male party operating a red Ford F-150 pickup truck who offered him a ride while he was riding his bike, the boy told the officer that he declined the ride and the older man with a white beard gave him a “dirty look” as he left, see story in the Oct. 10 edition of The Westfield News, see 5:43 p.m. entry;
1:13 p.m.: assault, Western Avenue, a caller reports a male party is in her home physically fighting with her father, the responding officer reports the man fled the residence but his described vehicle was found and stopped on Springfield Road, the officer reports that the man refused to exit his vehicle and spat at the officer before locking himself inside, additional officers were required to remove the man from the vehicle while he continued to struggle and spit, Vadym Misiruk, 18, of 13 Madison St., Westfield was arrested on four charges of assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest and mistreatment of a police dog, see story in the Oct. 10 edition of The Westfield News;
4:43 p.m.: breaking and entering, West Silver Street, a caller reports a man was seen rummaging through a vehicle in a parking lot who fled on a bike when discovered, see 5:21 p.m entry
5:21 p.m.: breaking and entering, South Broad Street, an officer searching for a suspect on a bicycle reports he located a suspect breaking into a vehicle in a parking lot at Silver and South Broad streets who fled on a bike, the officer caught the man after brief chase and the man admitted taking a pack of cigarettes from a vehicle on West Silver Street but denied that the cash he was found with was stolen although the officer reports the same amount of money had been reported to be stolen from one of the vehicles, Tyler G. Lyttle, 26 of 140 Russell Road, was arrested for two charges of breaking and entering a vehicle in the daytime with intent to commit a felony;
5:43 p.m.: suspicious vehicle, Casimir Street, a caller reports a possible sighting of a vehicle involved an earlier incident, the responding officer reports he spoke with a group of people on Casimir Street who said that a red pickup truck which may have been an older Ford had been in the area about 15 minutes earlier, one child in the group said the pickup as operated by an man with white beard, see story in the Oct. 10 edition of The Westfield News.
