Southwick Rec Center to honor Ray Snow, longtime volunteer

SOUTHWICK – The Southwick Recreation Center will be honoring Ray Snow, for his years of service and commitment to the organization on November 10th, 2018 at the Rec Center building.

Festivities begin with a social hour at 6:00pm and then dinner at 7:00pm.

The Southwick Recreation Center, is a non-profit organization run by volunteers, has sponsored youth sports in the Town of Southwick since 1961 and Ray Snow has been a part of the program for nearly 40 years.

Snow started coaching baseball with his 8 year old son in 1980, he and his wife umpired Girl’s softball games twice a week from 1985 to 1990. Snow coached floor hockey for many years  and was involved with the Rec Center Bingo night for over 20 years. He is presently a member of the Board of Directors and part of the Executive Board as a Vice President.

Snow is retired from the Southwick Tolland Granville Regional School system where he was the Director of Transportation. Not surprising that he is also a volunteer at the Our Lady of the Lake Church where he maintains the building and grounds. Snow is also a retired volunteer fire fighter of over 20 years as well.

Dedication of the gym in Ray Snow’s name will also take place that evening.

Tickets for this event can be purchased for a $5.00 donation at the Southwick Florist or contact Kirk Sanders at [email protected].
