2:38 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street at Union Avenue, a patrol officer reports he heard a “smashing noise” and looked to see a vehicle had struck a traffic light standard, the officer attempted to stop the car which did not stop until it struck a tree on Franklin Street, the operator appeared to be intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test, the car was towed to the police impound yard where an inventory revealed a variety of pills in the car, Kendra L. Forgues, 21, of 21 Green Ave., Westfield, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, possession of a Class B drug, two charges of possession of a Class E drug and a marked lanes violation;
8:13 a.m.: accident, Pochassic Street, a caller reports a vehicle struck a utility pole, the responding officer reports the operator was not injured but the pole appeared to be poised to fall and electric wires were live, the road was closed pending the arrival of a G&E crew;
11:31 a.m.: animal complaint, Maple Street, an animal control officer reports she picked up a dog from a resident and transported it to the Westfield animal shelter;
2:02 p.m.: larceny, Broad Street, a caller reports a resident has found his bank account has been fraudulently accessed, the responding officer reports a suspect was identified, the investigation was referred to the detective bureau;
2:07 p.m.: fire, Clark Street at Orange Street, caller reports a fire, the responding firefighter report they found a back yard barbecue in progress;
2:16 p.m.: assault, Atwater Street, a resident come to the station to complain of an assault, the responding officer reports the man said that a known party twice shoved him, the man said that he does not wish to pursue criminal charges but wants the incident documented;
2:47 p.m.: found property, Grandmothers Garden, Smith Avenue, a culler reports a bicycle is in the gazebo, the responding officer reports a brand new bicycle was transported to the station for safe keeping;
3:31 p.m.: suspicious comment, Broad Street, an employee of an assisted living residence came to the station to report that a co-worker said he was going to poison a resident, the responding office reports there is no evidence that any poison was ingested, the investigation is will continue;
6:08 p.m.: fire, Brand Street, a caller reports an odor of smoke and a slight smoke haze, the residing firefighters report burnt food was found nearby;
9:08 p.m.: harassment, Washington Street, a woman came to the station to complain that a known man is harassing her, the responding officer reports he spoke with the suspect who apologized and agreed to stay away from the woman;
11:34 p.m.: disturbance, Arnold Street, a caller from a local bar reports a disturbance, the responding officer reports that a man fled after an altercation with a bouncer, the suspect was found and served with a “No trespassing” order.
