1:36 a.m.: illegal dumping, Timberswamp Road, a patrol officer reports he found two cathode ray tube televisions which had been disposed of illegally, the DPW was notified to remove the televisions;
10:09 a.m.: assault, Westfield Industrial Park Road, a caller reports he was assaulted by a known person, the responding officer reports that the caller said that he and a former co-worker with whom he has existing animosity happened to be making deliveries at the same company and the other trucker slapped his face, the officer advised the complainant that he could seek a criminal complaint at Westfield District Court if he chooses to;
10:55 a.m.: fraud, Sycamore Street, a resident came to the station to complain of fraud, the responding officer reports the man said that he received an email message offering him a $250 payment in return for cashing a check, the man said that he received and deposited a $4,750 check and returned a $3,000 bank check and $1,500 in gift cards before he learned that the original check was not paid;
noon: fraud, Bates Road, a resident came to the station to report fraudulent charges had been made on his wife’s credit card account, the responding officer reports the victim said that they learned the card had been compromised when he noticed an unauthorized online purchase had been made with the card, the account was closed;
6:28 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Medeiros Way at Southampton Road, a patrol officer reports he observed a motor vehicle operator make a series of reckless actions and stopped the vehicle after he observed a marked lanes violation, the officer reports when he approached the operator he saw brass knuckles in plain view on the passenger seat, before frisking the man he asked if he had any weapons or needles which could harm him and was told that there was a needle in the man’s pocket, the man also said that there was heroin with the hypodermic needle, Derek L. Ritter, 45, of 9 Point Grove Road, Southwick was arrested for possession of heroin, carrying a dangerous weapon and a marked lanes violation;
7:34 p.m.: breaking and entering, Parker Avenue, a caller reports she returned home to find a window ajar and items knocked over, the woman said nothing appears to be missing, the responding officer reports that a kitchen window was ajar and items on the window sill had been knocked over but it did not appear as if entry had been gained;
8:14 p.m.: found property, Elm Street at Arnold Street, a Huntington resident came to the station to surrender a set of car keys found near the intersection of Elm and Arnold streets, the responding officer reports the owner could not be identified and the keys were held for safe keeping.
