Preliminary mayoral election is today

WESTFIELD – The polls are open across the city today and voters will narrow their mayoral candidates from four to two ahead of the upcoming city election.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. for the preliminary mayoral election. The top two vote recipients will move on to the Nov. 5 election.

The four candidates are political newcomer Andrew Mullen, city advocate Kristen L. Mello, Police Capt. Michael A. McCabe and state Sen. Donald F. Humason Jr.

Residents who are not sure where to vote can check the Commonwealth website and enter their address, or use the city’s street list to determine your ward online at cityofwestfield.org.

Polling locations are:

Ward 1A – Southampton Road Elementary School

Ward 1B – Westfield High School

Ward 2A – Westfield Senior Center

Ward 2B – Westfield Senior Center

Ward 3A – Franklin Avenue Elementary School

Ward 3B – Westfield Technical Academy

Ward 4A – Second Congregational Church

Ward 4B – Highland Elementary School

Ward 5A – Munger Hill Elementary School

Ward 5B – Munger Hill Elementary School

Ward 6A – Paper Mill Elementary School

Ward 6B – Paper Mill Elementary School

Absentee ballots were due at noon Monday. Residents can register to vote in the November election by Oct. 16.
