WESTFIELD – The Coalition for Outreach, Recovery and Education (CORE) and Westfield Public Schools are co-hosting the program, “Strengthening Families to Strengthen Our Children” with family therapist Dr. Robert J. Robinson Nov. 20 at Westfield Intermediate School Auditorium, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Robinson is the founder and clinical director of Family Care Counseling Associates, Inc., located in Wilbraham, one of the largest privately owned mental health clinics in Western Massachusetts. Robinson has a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, treating people for over 35-years. He is also a frequest guest on WWLP’s “Mass Appeal.”
Topics of the free program include communication with your children, setting boundaries, and making responsible decisions as your child grows independent.
Kathi Cotugno of CORE, formerly the Mayor’s Drug Awareness Task Force, said the program is the first of a four-part series on communication and building success for children to make responsible decisions.
“CORE’s mission is to provide prevention for our children regarding substance use. We believe family and community need to work together to provide our children building blocks to make good life decisions,” Cotugno said. She said CORE plans to offer programs both in the schools and at the community level towards this end.
“Westfield Public Schools is very fortunate to be able to continue our partnership with CORE of Greater Westfield and to offer parents this terrific opportunity for supporting communication with and setting boundaries for their children,” said Superintendent Stefan Czaporowski, who added, “I am hopeful that many of our parents and guardians are able to attend.”
