How come East Silver St is such a mess with potholes. East Silver St is just a stone’s throw from the DPW. Also, the lower end of Northwest Rd has some rather large potholes. It is late winter in New England and with the wild weather swings the potholes are every where. And it is going to get worse.

Has anyone noticed that our American Flag has not been flying at the Westfield Senior Center in nearly 4 weeks?  Walking past the flagpole, I noticed the clips that hold the flag are made of plastic and are broken. What is taking so long to replace these clips with metal clips, which  can be found at any hardware store Does it take an “Act of Congress” to get this done? From the Senior Center: Unfortunately, the Senior Center flag pole was damaged during one of our recent snow/ice events.  The flag that was flying (and was graciously donated by one of our Senior Center participants) was damaged.  Luckily, the staff was able to brave the elements and get the flailing flag down before it was torn too badly.  We are hopeful that the flag can be repaired.  The clips are not the culprit.  The actual flag pole was damaged and we will get a price quote to have it repaired in the spring.  As is often the case, the situation is not as simple or as inexpensive as one might think.  Generally, the Council On Aging staff can answer questions that Senior Center participants have, so feel free to ask if something is on your mind.  If we don’t have the answer immediately, we’ll do our best to research the inquiry as quickly as possible.
