I have known Officer Ken Frazer for almost 3 years that I have been volunteering at the Westfield Animal Shelter and know that he can be a little harsh to deal with at times but you also have to know that his job is a very difficult and thankless one. No one is very happy to receive a citation because you didn’t license your dog. I’ve seen the good in Ken, he has a “gift” with the dogs. They love him! I have also seen the hard work he has displayed–coming in early, staying late, fixing what needs to be fixed at the shelter and always available if a problem occurs. Please don’t judge him by what you hear or what you are reading,. He has very difficult decisions to make that can’t please everyone. I can only judge him on how he has treated me and that has always been with kindness, laughter and respect.

I was quite saddened reading The Westfield News about Ken Frazer being suspended with pay. Nobody has a kinder heart for the welfare of animals than Ken. I’ve grown to know the guy over the last few years and I can’t say anything bad about him. I think Westfield is making a big mistake trying to get rid of him and I don’t see what the reason is and I’m sure they could tell us publicly. So, let’s have it.
