First of all, I don’t know who’s in charge of Stanley Park but they’re cutting down tons of trees in the garden. It looks naked. There are big, giant, spots where the gardens were and now they’re cutting down the trees over by the swings. They’re making this place nude.  My name is Bob McKean, Managing Director of Stanley Park. I am pleased to respond to this individual’s comments. The reference to the trees in the Garden could be in any of the many gardens we have throughout our Park. The very large trees that were in the Rose Garden were taken down in November 2008. The new trees that have been planted in this area are now growing to a very nice height. The trees in the Evelyn B. Rose Garden and the ones in the swing areas are trees that were damaged beyond saving due to last year’s October early winter storm. Most of these trees were taken down prior to the opening of the Park May 5, 2012. We are still in the process of cleaning out many areas throughout the 300 acres that were not safe for our patrons and we will not stop until things are manageable. We have also planted many trees that have replaced these old overgrown trees, bushes, and other invasive species. Under the direction of our Board of Directors, our devoted staff, and me as Managing Director, we will continue to be pro-active to insure that visitors will be safe when they visit Stanley Park with their family and friends. We have also gone into other areas throughout the Park and conducted a common sense clearing. Members of our staff have been with the Park for many years and are very knowledgeable in their field. I am proud of all the work that they do on a daily basis. I can be reached directly if this individual or if any of your readers would like to personally discuss these issues at any time ([email protected]) or 413-568-9312. Thank you.  Bob McKean
