What is wrong with the people of this city? In yesterday’s Westfield News there was a story about the Old Dominion truck facility backing out of coming to town thanks to a handful of vocal residents. Well, kiss $200,000 dollars in tax revenue goodbye and say hello to increased residential property taxes! Do you not remember the $1 million dollar park that some people want the city to build? Where is that money coming from if we don’t open our doors to new business. Don’t give me the truck traffic story. Home Depot has over 100 truck trips a day and Old Dominion was planned to have 26. Don’t kid yourself for a minute that other businesses looking at Westfield aren’t now rethinking coming here because of how Old Dominion was treated. People complain about high property taxes but fight to have business come to town. You can’t have it both ways. And shame on you city councilors for caving to these residents. You’re just seeking votes.
