Hello there. What ever happened to that former police sergeant that was going to come back and straighten out some of the traffic problems in Westfield? A good place for him to start would be the intersection by Mestek incorporated because I’m in traffic here for the second day in a row, almost at the Westwood Restaurant and it’s bumper to bumper as far as I can see. (This call came in at about 5:45 on June 4.) Everything else seems to be working OK, but we need to address that. Get him back there.

Did you miss the story about the principal from Munger Hill being replaced? I didn’t see anything in the paper about it, but I have heard a lot of rumors. Can you tell us what happened? Thank you. Please see Dan Moriarty’s front-page story in the Tuesday, June 4th edition of The Westfield News.

The federal, state and city governments have invested millions of taxpayer dollars on roads and infrastructure downtown to make the city a better place to live. Yet the owner of the building on the corner of School Street and Elm Street continues to ignore the shabby condition of their building. To my knowledge, it hasn’t been painted in at least 25 years and it shows it. Obviously this person simply doesn’t care. Why can’t the city paint the building and place a lien against the property? Someone has to take charge here. The irresponsible owner certainly is not interested.

Hi PulseLine, A couple of days ago you had a picture of chairman Mao on a dollar bill instead of President Washington. This was not disrespectful but honest. George Washington, who was revered for his honesty, would probably approve! It seems that Americans are favoring foreign goods to those made by American workers and China has beaten us in our own back yard! It is funny that when Washington was president foreign goods from England helped spark THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION! Recently we were shopping at Walmart and were surprised to find that all items both cheap and very expensive for sale there were made in China! Walmart is now building a huge new addition to become a mega shopping market that will undercut the American based BIG Y prices and put them out of business! PLEASE continue to shop at BIG Y and support American jobs not China’s! – Bill Hardie, Russell

Hi! If you’re needing more compost I have plenty of it up here at 1150 East Mountain Road. My number is 568-9835. Because I know it’s garden time and people want the compost for their gardens. Thank you.

Hi! Just calling to say that the West Springfield Taste of the World is this weekend. I drove by there, and I’m from Westfield and they’ve got it on their beautiful town commons. Westfield could have something like that if it wasn’t for Adolph Knapik and his crew, his crew of cronies, the tree-choppers. Thank God West Springfield has got some tree lovers and huggers. Hopefully our new Mayor Mike will do that for us here in Westfield again and we’ll be able to have something before we are all dead and buried. I’d appreciate it if you went to the Taste. It would be a good time. I know friends there and they could use the business. Thank you very much. Have a nice day.

I would like to comment on what I think is the most valuable asset the city of Westfield has. It is called Stanley Park. It is enjoyed by many of us citizens and organizations. Who would you guess utilizes it the most? My guess is that it would be Westfield State University. I’m quite sure that the money that was given to build and maintain the park by our very generous philanthropist, Mr. Beveridge, has long been exhausted. It is up to we, the citizens, businesses and organizations to support it with annual donations. I am a retired senior citizen who over the years has donated at least $100 annually. Each year I receive literature listing the donors and the category they donated. The list has five pages of individual donors and one page of corporations and foundations. Never have I seen Westfield State University listed. Need I say more? Thank you.

Yeah, today is June 5 and I was mailing a letter today and I saw a booth at the end of the driveway at the post office: “Stop here to impeach President Obama?” And on the way in it says “Stop here to impeach President Obama.” I know we have freedom of speech. However, I thought we used to have some rulings about signs on lawns and this and that for political purposes but I guess freedom of speech outdoes it but those people shouldn’t be there because President Obama has done nothing wrong to be impeached. Period. People, I don’t understand why people would stand and do such a foolish thing. In fact, that’s un-American and anybody who does that I don’t have one iota of respect for. They never did that for George W. Bush even though he lied us into a war and we lost a lot of men but they’re doing it to this man. Maybe it’s because he’s black? I think so.
