Pulseline

PulseLine, June 7, 2013

This morning, Thursday, June 6, at the corner of Broad and Court Streets, a midsized black sedan stopped at a green light. The 30ish woman driving had her left hand on the wheel and her eyes focused on her device in her right. She was texting. She went on her way after noticing that the light was green. Her two children were in the back seat. Now, I cannot imagine that anyone that stupid reads a newspaper, but if perhaps that sounds like someone a reader of the pulse line might know, please tell her that if she wants to kill or injure herself, fine. But her children and others around her should not be put in harm’s way by her selfishness. I walk through down town and major streets almost every day and am appalled at how many people I see driving and texting. It’s scary.

Hi! I called approximately three weeks ago about a small street sweeper that was cleaning the streets in Westfield. It was doing a marvelous job. All the dust was going into the machine. It was just great. The streets were clean. And now I see a street sweeper, a bigger machine, a white one, going up Southwick Road. The dust is blowing all over. Half the dirt is left behind. Don’ they ever check to see how it looks behind them? Apparently not, because the dust is blowing all over people, yards, houses and cars and not even going into the machine, so I don’t know what the person’s problem who is driving the machine is. Don’t they know any better?
