Yeah, hi.  I’m calling in regards to, I gotta, I don’t even know how to say it…  you come down Clay Hill, across the Notre Dame intersection, the busiest intersection in Westfield, onto Elm, and immediately after you cross that intersection on the right, there’s a sign saying use at own risk, potholes.  This has got, that intersection and the whole north end there, so clustered, everybody’s stopping, reading it, don’t know where to go … amazing! How do you stop and turn around if you don’t want to use it at your own risk? You know, Westfield, we got our heads up our butt when we do things like this and that shows it.  Don’t patch the holes on a rainy day.  Last time you patched Notre Dame Hill on top when it was wet and it didn’t stick.  Wait til it dries.  Use some cold patch.  Get it done.  Putting that sign up is just the biggest headache you could cause. You got everybody putting on their brakes there, locking up traffic, congested, confused, and there’s no way to turn around if you don’t want to risk it.  But way to cover your butt because you don’t know how to cover a hole.  Get it together, Westfield.  That’s just pitiful.  It’s New England. It’s spring time. It’s unfortunate but pot holes have been happening on our streets this time of year since the invention of pavement which is way before any of us were born and pot holes will continue to happen. Please be careful driving.

Yes, and I’d like to comment on the fact that the people who own dogs, you know, if you’re going to walk your dog, especially down Franklin Street and the Franklin Ave area, you know? Pick up after your dog, you know? That’s the right thing to do.  If you own a dog, you pick up after your dog.  You know, nobody wants to step in dog poop and it’s not right for somebody to leave their dog poop where people have to take care of your yard and take care of having their front maintained of their yard.  So, if your dog is going to crap, pick it up.  Or take your dog somewhere else.  You don’t let your dog crap anywhere it wants and then leave it there.  It’s just nasty. Especially when it’s in the sidewalk.  That’s irresponsible and gross and there definitely should be regulations on that because nobody wants to step in it, OK? So, I just thought I’d comment that to the dog owners, you know? If you can’t handle picking it up around Franklin Street and Franklin Ave area, take your do somewhere else because it’s disgusting and it’s not appropriate.  People need to start picking up after their dogs, you know? If they don’t like to start picking up after their dog, go somewhere else.  Somewhere where someone doesn’t care.  There’s a lot of people who care.  Nobody wants to step in it.  Nobody wants it all over the place, you know? And like I said it’s the responsible thing to do. I’d like to comment the fact that the bridge, the old bridge that got remodeled, underneath it, about the bums who sleep under there, OK? They don’t respect that area. It’s nasty.  There’s crap everywhere. There’s trash everywhere.  Wet, yucky blankets, they’re sleeping in it, you know? It’s not picked up.  There’s crap down there – poop actually down there – and it’s gross, you know? And they need to do something about that, for one.  Second of all, the street people, they need to start using a trashcan.  Or they need to find a place to sleep.  They can’t just be leaving and trashing everyplace they’re “sleeping” at, OK? It’s just gross and it’s not right and it’s not decent for the town of Westfield.  So, something really needs to be done about the homeless people and especially if they’re sleeping under that bridge, you know? And especially it needs to be picked up and cleaned down there, because it is really, really disgusting.  It’s just gross. So I just figured I’d let you know that and hopefully something can get down about it, you know? And that new bridge they built, somebody wrote graffiti already on one spot on there, which needs to get redone and taken off.  These idiots need to stop doing graffiti or they need to crack down and make them pay for the damages that they do because it’s not appropriate to have graffiti all over the place.  It looks disgusting and crappy, especially when they do a nice job making new bridges and making it really nice for people, you know? You get the skateboarders skating all over the place and don’t care.  And, of course, if one of them gets hurt, there’s going to be a problem with that, too, I’m sure.  But, you know, they need to start cracking down on things when it comes to graffiti and, you know, and littering.  And stuff like that.  Bye. There are laws and ordinances regarding dogs and their owners responsibility to clean up pet waste on a public way. If you see someone not acting responsibly in this regard, notify the Police, not the PulseLine. There are also laws and ordinances regarding graffiti. Once again, if you see someone in the act, report it to the police. Lastly, when it comes to the homeless, I’m sure the shelter could use volunteers to assist so please contact them to help out.

I received my bill for The Westfield News.  I have always paid a year in advance.  This year I paid for eight weeks.  I don’t think I will continue my subscription.  My main reason to get the paper was the pulse and court logs. It kept me informed what was going on in my neighborhood for me and my family.  Since it’s been cut to a few items once or twice a week, I no longer have any use for the paper.  I’m sorry because I really did enjoy it. Thank you.  We’ve had a few inquiries recently about the court and emergency service logs not appearing regularly and we just wanted to let everyone know why: we have one reporter who covers that beat and periodically we let him take some vacation time. When he returns he tends to catch up on what he missed. As for the PulseLine, the only items we don’t print are personal attacks on a non-elected official, attacks on businesses or comments that are not locally-based. All others get printed. Remember, the PulseLine runs every day now so the comments are spread out over 6 days versus the old 3 days.
