I was listening to your radio show when city clerk Fanion said you need to have a permit to sell a vehicle in your yard. Well, if you drive on Tannery Rd. in Westfield there are constantly tractors and farm equipment for sale at one house and this has been going on for months and months. Why doesn’t the city give these folks a ticket or fine them for being an unlicensed vehicle seller? Private vehicle sales are allowed by permit from the Police Department and also enforced by them. There is no zoning ordinance to govern this activity.

Ya see…this is why I like my Westfield News. No sooner do I e-mail a complaint to the pulseline about the line painting on Court Street when the paper has a full article with pictures on it. Thanks for clearing this up! I will say, now that it’s done, it does look better. (but the left turn onto Washington St is still screwed up.)

How did you possibly think that the editorial cartoon with Ted Cruz and Joe McCarthy was anything but insulting over the line?

Every year around this time the paper puts out a special about what to do during the holidays. Can you tell me if you’re doing that this year and when it will be out? Our annual Home For The Holiday’s special will be in our publications as follows: PennySaver 11/23; Westfield News 11/26; Enfield Press 11/20 and Longmeadow News 11/20. Also, as you can imagine, with the holiday’s fast approaching we will have many inserts in the papers over the next several weeks to guide you in your gift buying. You can also give a subscription to one of our papers as a gift too! Contact our circulation department at either 413-562-4181 extension 117 or [email protected] for more information.

Dear Pulse Line, On Wednesday night I had the opportunity to attend the Greater Westfield Community Band Veterans Day Concert at North Middle School. It was outstanding! Under the direction of Musical Director Gene Bartley, this dedicated group of nearly 75 amateur musicians volunteer for six weeks of rehearsals twice a year to put on a free musical program of professional-quality band music. They have been doing so for 19 years. The concert Wednesday night had a patriotic theme and honored our veterans. I was really impressed with the quality of the program and the musicians. They sound better and better every time I hear them. I don’t know if there is any room left for improvement; they were that good! The North Middle School auditorium was nearly full of appreciative fans from our community. I am so glad I chose to put this concert on my schedule and attend. We were all rewarded by a great evening of music. Well done Mr. Bartley and Community Band members! Thank you for your hard work and your gift of music. Sincerely, Senator Don Humason
