Why doesn’t Stanley Park step up to the plate and donate an acre of the park for a dog park? It is a perfect location.

Southwick schools superintendent, Mr. Barry: Could you take a moment out of your busy schedule, I know you’re so busy, to explain why the school buses are still parked in the Woodland School area when they were to be moved to the new Department of Public Works facility on College Highway? It seems to me that it’s a bigger area for them to park with better supervision and security. There’s also more room and a bigger garage for the mechanics to work on the buses. I’ll look for your answer, sir.

I’m calling about the gentleman who wants to resurrect the bowling alley at the old Romani’s. I wish him a lot of luck but a word of advice, if Dan gives him anything he should get it in black and white on paper because he is what the Indian’s call “a man with forked tongue.” Thank you.

I have decided that those who can, do, and those who can’t become career politicians.

$200 reward for the arrest & conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of “Thomas”? Umm….euthanasia was elected by his owners at one of the regions emergency facilities. Euthanasia solution is what killed him. NOT the pellet in his chest cavity. NOT the fracture of his leg. Euthanasia solution. I am becoming increasingly annoyed by those saying they want the person responsible for his death to pay. Unfortunately, there is no proof that the break was caused by the hands of a human. Nor is there any evidence as to when the pellet was shot into him. Could have been 2 weeks to 2 years ago, considering the owners never noticed an entrance wound. If someone hit your cat with a car, would you be accusing someone of  “killing your cat” and offering a reward? Probably not, because that’s the risk you take when you let your cat go outdoors. It may be of better interest, to educate owners on the dangers of letting your cat be outdoors, than taking money of strangers, to try to convict someone, who may not even exist.

Hello, I have recently moved out of state to go to a college with students from all over the country. One of the classes I am taking is an education and teaching class, in which many times we share stories from our own experiences in education. Over the few weeks that I have been in this class, I have learned that I had a very positive schooling experience compared to many other kids. I went from kindergarten to graduation in the Westfield Public School System and I want to say thank you. Thank you to all of the teachers, faculty, secretaries, lunch ladies, custodians, school board and lawmakers, and everyone in-between, for making our schools as successful as they are. We aren’t perfect, there can be improvements made, and there will always be controversy, but I’m thankful for the comprehensive sexual education, teaching methods, art and music programs, and extra-curricular activities that I was offered.

On Wednesday, the 19th, our teenager’s very expensive bicycle was stolen from the bike rack near the children’s entrance of the Westfield Athenaeum between 2:00 and 3:30 in the afternoon. If you saw any activity near the bike rack that looked out of the ordinary please report what you saw to the Westfield Police. If if see a bicycle abandoned in your neighborhood please report that as well. Thanks for your help.
