Emergency Response and Crime Report
Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012
7:08 a.m.: suspicious person, Columbus Apartments, 97 Elm St., a patrol officer reports he was flagged down by multiple persons who complained of a person sleeping in an apartment building hallway, the responding officer reports he found a known party, the man was served with a “no trespassing” order;
8:35 a.m.: assist other agency, Meadow Street, an officer was detailed to serve a warrant of apprehension issued by Westfield District Court, the officer reports the subject was transported to the court without incident;
1:34 p.m.: arrest, Lincoln Street, a community policing officer reports he learned that a known party was the subject of two outstanding warrants, the officer sought the suspect at his home and when the man answered the door he acknowledged that he knew of the warrants, Daniel T. St. Jean, 50, of 15 Lincoln St., was arrested on the two warrants;
3:20 p.m.: fraud, Elm Street, a resident came to the station to report that her debit card was stolen and numerous charges were made;
4:16 p.m.: larceny, Court Street, a resident came to the station to report his mountain bike was stolen while he was in the library about 3 p.m., the responding officer reports that the complainant said that the bike which he valued at about $450 was locked and the lock was also stolen;
4:18 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a traffic enforcement officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to have been revoked for lack of insurance, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
4:45 p.m.: loitering, Park Square, a caller reports about six children are riding skateboards on the new granite at the Green, the responding officer reports he spoke with six youths with skateboards who were near the drinking fountain and advised them of the possible consequences of riding skateboards at Park Square;
5:51 p.m.: vandalism, Little River Road, a caller from a convenience store reports the store was struck by paint balls overnight, the caller not require a formal report but wants the incident documented;
5:59 p.m.: assist citizen, Court Street, a resident came to the station to request assistance gathering possessions from a Court Street apartment, the responding officers report the woman collected several bags of clothing and an air conditioner but a television and a second air conditioner the woman expected to find were not present, both parties were advised of their legal options;
6:40 p.m.: larceny, Franklin Street, a caller reports a known female party stole two $20 bills from him, the responding officer reports the caller said that he gave his former girlfriend his debit card so she could get cash for him and she came back to his vehicle and returned the card and $40, the man said an argument then developed and the woman took the money from him, the officer reports he was not able to immediately speak with the suspect and the case was referred to the community policing officer for the area;
7:46 p.m.: arrest, Old County Road at North Road, a detective reports an ongoing narcotics investigation culminated in an arrest, see story in the Friday edition of The Westfield News.
