To the ignorant person who on September 25 referred to the people on Cross St fighting the school being built NIMBYs: Before you go accusing people of something, know your facts. We have no problem with a school being built here. If the school was a good fit, we wouldn’t oppose it. Even the person who designed the school said it was a tight fit to get the school in here. If the mayor followed the law instead of breaking them trying to get it built, we wouldn’t oppose it. The judge stopped them building because the mayor was breaking the law. If the school was safe for children, we wouldn’t oppose it. The fire department said that they did not have a plan for how the children would evacuate in case of a fire. The children were not being forced to walk 2 miles across the center of town and none of these parents have been made aware of this yet. So before you go accusing people of something, remember when your mom taught you not to be quick to judge, and not to point fingers. We would love a school, just not THIS school.  It is important to clarify that Judge Page did not halt work on the current Ashley St. School, only work being done on the adjacent open field.
