Westfield places 4th at Elms Invitational

GRANBY – The Westfield State University mens golf team finished fourth in the 15-team Elms College Blazer Invitational yesterday at Westover Golf Course.
The host team Elms easily won the invitational with a score of 309. Rhode Island College came in second (311) followed by Emmanuel College (325), Westfield (329), Anna Maria (331) and Castleton State (331).
Elms’ Henry Fall and Phil Rurak and RIC’s Tim Leigh tied for low medalist honors with one over par 73s.
Westfield sophomore Chris Miele tied for seventh with a 79, including a 39 on the front nine. Also playing for the Owls were junior Scott Walters (81), freshman Tyler Olson (84), freshman Austin Ahmed (85) and junior Ryan Campbell (85).
One of the major highlights of the event was a hole-in-one on the fourth hole by Castleton State’s Daniel Hogan. Hogan finished with a 41 on both the front and back nine to finish with a round of 82 for the event.
