BELCHERTOWN – Belchertown scored a second-half goal to squeak out a 1-1 tie against visiting Southwick in a high school field hockey game Monday.
Belchertown’s Kaleigh Cooper scored the equalizer for Belchertown. Alex Grimaldi scored for Southwick. Sydney Gorman assisted.
Southwick goalie Clare Strattan had eight saves. Belchertown keeper Abigail Rothstein made 10 saves.
In JV action, Southwick and Belchertown played to a scoreless tie. Rams goalkeeper Paisley Suares (2 saves) earned a shutout.

Westfield Technical Academy 8, Duggan Academy 1

A total of 14 different players scored either a goal or had an assist as Westfield Technical Academy spread the wealth in a rout of Duggan Academy at Jachym Field.
Westfield Tech’s Adam Strycharz and Evan Ploof scored their first varsity goals. Carter Slack got his fist varsity assist for the Tigers.
Dan Kontsimal and Josh Bush netted their first goals of the season.
Westfield Tech improved to 6-0.

O’Connor nets goal
Frontier 3, Southwick 1

Three different players scored to lead Frontier. Jared O’Connor tallied Southwick’s goal on a penalty kick.

Terriers chase Bombers
West Springfield 5, Westfield 0

West Springfield scored 10 minutes into the first half, and tallied four more goals before salting it away late.
“West Side was all over us, they took control of the entire game,” Westfield coach Andrew Joseph said. “We have a lot of work to improve.”

GIRLS SOCCER
Goodreaus connect
St. Mary’s 3, Duggan Academy 2

Emma Goodreau had a hand in all three goals, scoring twice and assisting on another as St. Mary’s (4-0-2) edged Duggan. Allie Goodreau also scored for the Saints.
Chloe Lussier and Maddie Donais each had an assist.
“We were playing our fourth game in six days and were down two starters due to illness,” St. Mary’s coach Patrick Olearcek said. “Some of our newer girls with limited experience on the varsity level really stepped up and gave us huge minutes. Maura O’Neil and Jessica Armstrong in particular were fantastic. Just a great team effort.”
Amelia Willenborg continued here stellar job in net with 12 saves.

Southwick def. Commerce 25-21, 23-25, 25-17, 25-14

Kayla Andrade (7 digs, 1 kill, 13 assists), Allie Methe (1 dig, 8 aces, 8 kills), and Kaitlyn Haseltine (2 digs, 5 aces, 4 kills, 14 assists) led Southwick.

Westfield Technical Academy 22, Central 2

Westfield Tech’s Dave Romani, Nick Moran, and Riley Sullivan each won their matches 4-0. Romani, Moran, Tanner Levasseur, and Jake Collier each shot their best rounds of the season.
Tigers’ Trent Adam tied his match 2-2.
Collier and Levasseur were both unopposed, thus winning 4-0 each.
