Remo Pirola

Westfield – Remo Pirola, 90, (1926-2016) passed away on December 21, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born and educated in Piazzalunga, Italy. Remo was the son of the late Enrico and Assunta (Colmegna) Pirola. He was employed as a foreman for John S. Lane & Sons and retired in 1991 after over 40 years. He was a member of the Italian Fraternal Club and the Caspano Club. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed a glass of wine, and loved to sit on his porch and watch the birds. Remo and his wife Christina were very social and hospitable. Their door was always open to family and friends. Remo was predeceased by his beloved wife Christina (Chistolini) Pirola in 2006 and is survived by his children, Steven R. Pirola and his husband Greg Wilson of Bloomfield, CT, Donna J. Sullivan and her husband Joe of Southwick, and David J. Pirola and his husband Scott Michaels of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, a brother Leo Pirola and his wife Carolyn of Westfield, his sisters, Sofia Russo and her husband Sebastian of Westfield and Emma Dellarippa of E. Hartford, CT, two cherished grandchildren Joseph Sullivan of New York, NY and Melissa Cornell and her husband Steve of Clifton Park, NY, and two great grandchildren, Zachary and Christina. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 AM from the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Mary’s Church Bartlett St. Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-7 PM in the funeral home.
