WARE – Home or away, the Southwick-Tolland Regional High School boys’ basketball team is looking like a force to be reckoned with.
Southwick’s Tim McGrath scored a team-high 15 points. Nick Hough and Matt Daley netted 13 and 10 points, respectively, for the Rams (4-0). Bradley Durand, Ryan LeClair, and Chris Molta each had seven.
Ware’s Ryan Johnson (18) and Fernando Montalban (10) combined for 28 points.
Eagles look Golden
Central 102, Westfield 35
Central outscored visiting Westfield 28-9 in the first quarter, and averaged 25 points per quarter to put up a 100 spot at home.
Five players netted double digits for Central with Josh Pressley’s 22 points leading the way. Maickel DeJesus (18 points), Jorge Torres (15), Levi White (11) and Robert Jenkins (10) were the other Golden Eagles who soared.
Gabe Piepergerdes drained four 3-pointers to lead Westfield with 13 points.
Czerechma hits 16 in WTA loss
Pioneer Valley Christian 44, Westfield Technical Academy 38
Matthew Porter scored 15 points, and Noah Connor had 10 to lead Pioneer Valley Christian Academy.
Westfield Tech’s Andrew Czerechma notched a game-high 16.
Hernandez-Santiago, Cavanaugh outpace Bombers
Holyoke 59, Westfield 35
Natacha Hernandez-Santiago (24 points) and Callie Cavanaugh (18) combined for 42 of Holyoke’s 59 points to defeat host Westfield.
Holyoke, which led 19-11 after one quarter, went on a 19-5 run in the second frame to build a commanding lead. The Purple Knights never faltered.
Westfield’s Olivia Hadla scored a team-high 18 points.
Easthampton 39, Gateway 13
Eagles soar past Gators
Easthampton went on a 7-0 run to start the game, and built a 24-4 halftime lead en route to a home win. Eagles’ Juli Korza recorded a game-high 17 points.
Becca Herman led Gateway with four.
