Rene Chabot

WESTFIELD – Rene Chabot, 82, passed peacefully at home on August 22, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.  Rene was born June 27, 1938 in St. Charles in Quebec, Canada, son to the late Phillippe and Yvonne (LaRochelle) Chabot.  He was raised and educated in Quebec and later moved to Massachusetts in 1955.  He started his own business Rene’s Concrete Service for over 20 years, later working with his son Philip calling it Rene’s Concrete Service and Son for many of years.  Rene loved to travel with his family from trips to Florida, Canada, and camping of 45 years in Westerly, RI.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and his motorcycle. He was an icon and legend to so many people who admired him and will not be forgotten by all.  He enjoyed life to the fullest and was the life of the party.  He loved to invent and create many projects. He was a family man who cherished his wife, children and grandchildren.

Rene is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Norma Chabot of Westfield, and his children Philip Chabot, Melissa Chabot Gilbert, Brenda Chabot Nihill, and son-in-law Michael G. Nihill who Rene cherished him as his own. He was the loving “Pepere” to Nicholas, Matthew, Michael P., Angelina, and Grace Rene.  He is the caring brother to Raymonde, Lorraine, Jeanine, Denis, Eloise. He will be dearly missed by several nieces, nephews and to all who knew him. He was predeceased by brothers John Paul, and Roger.  All services are private.  A Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church will take place at a later date.
