SOUTHWICK – Robert E. Girroir, Sr., 88, (1936–2025) passed away on May 2nd, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center.
He will be missed by his wife of 65 years, Connie (Dorval); his children Robert Girroir, Jr. and his wife Dawn, Donald Girroir, Suzette Cennamo and her husband Bob, and Thomas Girroir and his wife Bobbi-Jo; his daughter-in-law Kristie Girroir; his grandchildren Joshua Cennamo and his wife Raena, Hannah Cennamo and her husband Derek Roy, Jessica Cennamo and her husband Nick Roy, and Steven Girroir, Jr., Jonathan Girroir, Kristalynn Girroir and Cassandra Girroir; his great-grandchildren Derek and Jackson Roy, Zio and Stella Cennamo and Ziggy and Tatum Girroir; his siblings Paul and Michael Girroir and Mary Ruess and her husband Bob as well as many extended family members.
Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his son Steven Girroir who passed away June 2010 and his brothers John and Richard Girroir.
Bob was born in Huntington, MA on June 17th, 1936, the son of the late Ralph and Sophie (Augustyniak) Girroir. He proudly served in the Air National Guard in Phalsbourg during the Berlin Crisis.
His greatest pride and joy was being around his family, his many trips to Vermont and Maine and watching his grandsons race dirt bikes over the years.
For over 35 years, he drove truck for his sons, Robert, Jr. of Robert Girroir Trucking and Steve of Anvil Rock Excavating before retiring at 73 years old.
He took up the hobby of collecting cans after retirement and was known as the “Can Man” throughout Southwick and Westfield.
To all those who saved their cans for “Poppa”, we thank you for the happy times and friendships he made over the years. We love you Dad and you’ll always be in our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, May 8th, 2025, from 9-11 a.m. at Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 624 College Highway, Southwick. A service will take place at 11 a.m.
