Saints battle; WHS wins

WESTFIELD – The St. Mary High School basketball program suffered a pair of losses on the court Wednesday night, but not for a lack of trying.

St. Mary fought through adversity, and nearly staged an upset.
The Saints, who start three freshmen, a sophomore, and a junior, shrugged off an early injury to their starting guard, foul trouble to their two “big men,” and another late injury to wage a tough battle.
“It was really a good, good effort from a bunch of young kids,” St. Mary coach Joe Molta said. “It was a great effort.”
“Hopefully we will continue to get healthy, and continue our strong effort.”
