BLANDFORD – Sally Jean (Bodurtha) Huff, 80, died surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Kindred Country Estates of Agawam. Born in Westfield on September 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Florence (Shepard) Bodurtha.
She was a lifelong resident of Blandford. She graduated from Westfield High School in 1949, and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in 1950. She worked at Monarch Life Insurance Company for 43 years, retiring as an Executive Assistant in 1993. She served as Blandford Town Accountant from 1965 to 1983, and she was an active member of the Blandford Fair for over 45 years. At the fair, she ran the horse show for many years, served as a Director, and in recent years was a fixture in the fair remembrances booth. She was also involved in the Eastern States Horse Show for 18 years.
She is survived by many dear cousins, Robert Shepard and his wife Nancy, Donald Shepard, Bertha (Shepard) Pease and her husband Donald, and Dlorah (Shepard) Calkins and her husband Don, all of Blandford, Barbara (Miller) Wilson of Granby, Massachusetts. Joan (Shepard) Ruane of McNeal, Arizona, Timothy Bodurtha of Lakeside, Montana and Dennis Nye of Tallahassee, Florida. She was predeceased by her cousins, Arthur Shepard, Joan (Nye) Dion, and Brian Heath.
Visiting hours will be Monday, September 24, from 11:00 to 12:00 at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, Massachusetts, with the funeral service immediately following. Burial will follow in Hill Cemetery in Blandford.
