WESTFIELD — Last week, Westfield Senior Center curbside meal “regulars” expressed their thanks with signs, cards, and notes on a special day set aside to recognize the pandemic efforts of staff and dedicated volunteers.
“For the past 17 months, the Senior Center staff and a few amazing volunteers have worked incredibly hard, braving heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow, to offer Westfield’s older adults delicious curbside meals,” said Senior Center Executive Director Tina Gorman. “From the food preparation … to the daily reservation process … to the curbside distribution of lunches, newspapers, newsletters, masks, incontinence supplies, puzzles, books and informational flyers, the Senior Center team has been a beacon of light.”

Curbside Crew Appreciation Day was held Monday, Aug. 2, to kick off the final week of five-day curbside service. The Senior Center is not serving lunches this week. When the kitchen reopens next Monday, Aug. 16, lunches will be served indoors four days a week, with curbside pickup on Wednesdays only.
In September, the schedule will change again, with curbside pickup four days a week, and in-person dining on Thursdays only.
