CHICOPEE – Shannon Shea hammered out 14 kills to lead the way for Westfield State as the Owls posted a 3-1 win over SUNY-Cobleskill at the Elms Invitational volleyball tournament on Saturday.
The Owls dropped the first set by a 23-25 score, before sweeping the final three sets by 25-14, 25-23, and 25-16 scores to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Casey Doremus added 11 kills for the Owls, with Casey Howe adding eight kills and five blocks. Courtney Ryan dished out 29 assists with Brigid Murray adding 11. Lizzie Taylor led the Owls’ defensive efforts with 30 digs. Howe and Taylor were named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts.
Westfield will travel to Keene State on Wednesday evening for a non-conference match.
