NASHUA, NH – The Nashua Silver Knights exploded for six runs in the third inning and cruised past the Westfield Starfires 8-1 Saturday at Holman Stadium.
Joe Bramanti went 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI to lead Nashua (6-8). Silver Knights’ Kyle Sandstrom and Benjamin Cowles each doubled, and Josh Brodeur finished with a pair of RBIs.
Nashua pitched a combined three-hitter with Alex Shafer allowing just two hits, no walks, and one run, while striking out six batters in seven innings. Silver Knights’ Brady McGarry and George Welch each provided an inning of scoreless relief.
Andrew Ciacciarelli homered for Westfield. Starfires’ Sean Moorhouse and Jeremiah Vargas each had a hit.
The Westfield Starfires (4-11) were rained out Sunday.
