Westfield – Sophie S. (Szostak) Zepko, 98, died Friday October 7, 2016. She was born in Westfield on December 12, 1917 to the late Michael and Anna (Tysz) Szostak. She was a 1936 graduate of Westfield High School and attended State Normal School in Westfield. She worked for several years in the Ordnance Department in Springfield. Sophie co-owned Shaker Farms Country Club with her husband and retired in 1990. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Westfield, and later the Mittineague Congregational Church. She was a member of Ramapogue Women’s Club in West Springfield, enjoyed golf, and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony A. Zepko in 1995. She leaves her children Arlene A. MacLeod and her husband John of Hampden, ME, George C. Zepko and his wife Billie of Fresno, CA, Anthony J. Zepko and his wife Janice of West Springfield, and her daughter-in-law Mary Zepko of Westfield. Sophie also leaves her grandchildren Mary (MacLeod) Bess, John A. MacLeod, Bradley C. Zepko, and Laura E. Zepko, her great-grandchildren Sophie and Henrie Bess. She was pre-deceased by her siblings Henry Szostak, Mary Olechna and Olga Heppelle. The family would like to extend special thanks to her loving caregivers Shauna Mazza, Sheryl Lewis, and Jeanie Valentine. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 13th from 4pm-7pm at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Funeral services and burial will be private.
