WESTFIELD – The Westfield South Little League Baseball 12-Year-Old All-Stars scored four runs in each of the first three innings to defeat Pittsfield 12-5 in the sectional opener Wednesday night at Cross Street Field.
Westfield’s Adam Tobias (2-for-4, 4 RBIs) blasted a two-run double to get things started in the first inning and drove in two runs with a single in the second. Adam Kearing’s two-run double to right-center field highlighted the third.
Jack Yvon (2-4, 3 runs, 2 RBIs) and Tyler Delgado (2-4, RBI, 2 runs) were also instrumental in the offensive outpouring.
Nate Bonini (2 inn., 3 runs allowed) earned the win on the mound for Westfield South. Devin Baker (3 inn., 2 hits allowed, 2 runs) and Adam Kearing (1 hit, no runs, 1 hit, 1 K) pitched solidly in relief.
“It was nice to get that first win in them in years,” said Westfield South 12s manager Mike Raposo, whose team lost twice to Pittsfield last tournament season. “
Westfield South returns to action Thursday at Leominster at 5:30 p.m.
