Southampton downs Westfield Juniors

Whip City Juniors got roughed up in their tournament opener against a mighty Easthampton squad.
Despite the loss Friday night, Westfield’s Mike Durkee had a double, and Brett Bonenfant delivered an RBI single. Devon Nadeau had a stellar effort behind the plate for Whip City Juniors.
Westfield will look to bounce back Wednesday when it hosts Northampton at Hampton Ponds Field at 5:30 p.m.
The tournament action will shift to the 10-11 and 11-12 Year-Old All-Stars Saturday.

In the 10-11-Year-Old Division, Westfield National travels to Longmeadow and Westfield American plays at Agawam in a pair of noontime starts. In 11-12-Year-Old action, Westfield American hosts Amherst at Cross Street Field at 12:30 p.m. Westfield National plays at Belchertown at 5 p.m. Gateway hosts Easthampton gets things started at 10 a.m.
The Westfield Senior All-Stars host Agawam Saturday at Hampton Ponds Field at 10 a.m.
On Sunday, the Westfield National 9-10-Year-Old All-Stars travel to Gateway. First pitch is at 10 a.m. Westfield American hosts Southampton at Cross Street Field at 12:30 p.m.
