Southwick bylaw changes proposed

SOUTHWICK – The Southwick Select Board March 1 sent four proposed bylaw changes to the Planning Board for hearings.

Board Chair Douglas Moglin said at least some of the proposed changes would need to go on to the Annual Town Meeting following Planning Board hearings.

One change would be to allow certain size parcels in the R-40 zone to allow larger ground mounted solar arrays.

Another proposed change would modify the sign bylaw, particularly the section on electronic messaging and the timing of the messages.

A third change being proposed would remove the word “grandfathered” from bylaws, which Moglin said was an antiquated term and would be replaced with modern language.

The last proposal would allow the Planning Board access to technical resources they do not have currently.

Moglin said the requests were made by the Planning Board and with approval from the Select Board, would be sent back to the Planning Board for hearings.

“Then they will come back to us for placement on the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting,” Moglin said.
