Southwick Civic Fund looking for community’s help

SOUTHWICK – The Southwick Civic Fund is looking for the community’s help. On July 21, the non-profit organization will be hosting the annual Southwick Fireworks at American Legion Post 338

According to Southwick Civic Fund President Joe Deedy, they are attempting to raise $12,000, an amount that will cover the costs of the fireworks, along with police and fire detail.

Deedy always looks forward to this time of year.

“We’re back to raising money for this wonderful civic opportunity in town, it’s great to keep this tradition alive,” said Deedy.

In order to donate, people can write out a check to the Southwick Civic Fund with “fireworks” in the memo and mail it to this address:

People can also drop off their check or donation to Moolicious Farms, which is located at 258 Feeding Hills Rd.

Prior to the 9pm fireworks display, a bonfire will be taking place around 7 p.m. near the track tower on the motocross track. Individuals can park at Whalley Park and go through the gate onto the motocross grounds. The festivities leading up to the fireworks will also include food and music.

Deedy is grateful for the assistance of the American Legion as their grounds have hosted this event for a number of years.

“I can’t thank the Legion enough and the Wick 338 for allowing us to use their facilities,” said Deedy.
