Southwick Fireworks in jeopardy

SOUTHWICK – The Southwick Civic Fund urgently seeks the community’s help in order to raise $12,000 for the annual fireworks in town. The fireworks will be taking place on the grounds of American Legion Post 338 and are scheduled for July 21 about 9p.m.

According to Southwick Civic Fund President Joe Deedy, the current amount raised for fireworks is $3,798. The $12,000 needed will pay for the fireworks, the police and fire detail, and any other miscellaneous costs.

“We’re still plugging away,” said Deedy. “We’re hoping the community steps up.”

In order to donate, people can write out a check to the Southwick Civic Fund with “fireworks” in the memo and mail it to this address:

People can also drop off their check or donation to Moolicious Farms, which is on 258 Feeding Hills Rd.

Leading up to July 21, volunteers of the Southwick Civic Fund will be seen outside grocery stores, the town transfer station, and other areas with donation buckets for the fireworks. There will also be donation buckets near the entrance of the American Legion on the day of the event, to help raise money for next year’s fireworks.
