SOUTHWICK – The Southwick Council on Aging is hosting several fall events this month at the Southwick Senior Center.

The annual Senior Center Halloween party can’t happen this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, however, Council on Aging Director Cindy Sullivan said they will still celebrate in a different fashion.

The Costume Drive-by is slated for Oct. 30 during the Grab and Go Lunch distribution. Sullivan encouraged everyone to wear their best costume and some visitors will win prizes.

Ahead of the Halloween event, fall will be celebrated during lunch distribution. On Oct. 9, participants will receive small pumpkins and corn stalks. On Oct. 21, the flavors of the season continue with apples for everyone, and on Oct. 29, goody bags filled with treats will kick-off the Halloween festivities.

The Senior Center will host two live, free music performances this month.

On Oct. 15, Sarah the Fiddler will perform outdoors at 12:30 p.m. while guests enjoy hot apple cider and donuts.

Vocalist Laurie Festa will perform an eclectic blend of Jazz, Broadway, classical and popular musical styles at the Southwick Senior Center outside on Oct. 29 at 12:30 p.m. Her show is paid for by the Southwick Cultural Council

The Southwick Senior Center Grab and Go lunches are available Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. – noon. You must call the Senior Center the day before by 10 a.m. at 413-569-5498. You can also sign up for the entire month by turning in a circled menu with your name on it, which is recommended for the most popular meals as space may be limited.
