Spray water parks are open, and summer playground programs begin

WESTFIELD – With summer temps heating up, spray pad water parks in the City of Westfield are up and running, and a great way to cool off.  In addition, free summer playground programs will begin on Monday, July 2 at the three spray pad parks at the Municipal, Chapman and Sadie Knox playgrounds, plus the playgrounds at Hampden Pond, Munger Hill and Paper Mill.

Spray pad hours are 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Sunday until September.  Municipal Playground is located on Greylock Street which is off Franklin Street. Please use the parking lot which is located on Greylock Street. Chapman Playground is located on St. Paul Street. Please use parking lot located on Fowler Street. Sadie Knox Playground is located on Prospect Street.

Rules for the spray pad parks state that children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and no food or beverages are allowed in the spray pad areas.  Water is activated by placing a hand over and touching the top of the green posts. Spray pad surfaces may be slippery when wet, and footwear is recommended. Sadie Knox Spray Park

Hours for the summer playground program, free for children ages 6 to 12, are from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, beginning July 2 through August 3 (no program on July 4). No registration is required. This program, led by two to three CPR and First Aid certified Parks& Recreation staff at each location, includes a wide variety of games, crafts, sports and tournaments.
