Springfield Symphony Orchestra invites high school music students to meet the musicians

SPRINGFIELDFor the second season, The Springfield Symphony Orchestra (SSO) extends its educational outreach to hundreds of high school students throughout western Massachusetts through their Meet the Musicians: High School Edition program.

The first of these three sessions will take place at Symphony Hall on October 18, 2018, 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Students and teachers throughout the region are invited at no cost for a catered dinner with professional SSO musicians. Attendees participate in a lively Q & A where they may ask musicians questions about their music career and get to know them personally. After dinner, students are invited to attend an SSO rehearsal where they may observe the orchestra and Maestro Kevin Rhodes in action while participating in the Real-Time Concert Notes program. This educational tool is accessed on their cell phones via the XX Glenn smartphone application and allows students to view live, up-to-the-minute information about the music they are hearing during the rehearsal. Students will also receive vouchers for tickets to the SSO concert Symphonie Fantastique & Rachmaninoff Concert 3, which takes place on the Saturday following their visit.
