KITSAP COUNTY, WASH. – World Series festivities came to an end this week for the Westfield Babe Ruth 13-year-olds with closing ceremonies, and an All-Star moment.
In front of a packed stadium Wednesday night, following the Bryant (Ark.) 4-3 championship win over Greenville (N.C.), the World Series Committee announced the members of the 2012 All-World Series Team. Westfield OF/P Austin St. Pierre was named to that team as the top center fielder. He was presented with a trophy, recognizing his accomplishments.
Although the Westfield Ruthers’ tournament run is over, the festivities will continue.
On Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m., the City of Westfield will honor the Whip City’s New England Regional champions with a parade. The parade will step off at the back parking lot of City Hall on 59 Court Street, continue west on to King Street, and end at Bullens Field. King Street will be closed from Washington to Hubbard streets from 10-10:30 a.m. during the time of the parade.
Current and former Babe Ruth and Little League ball players are invited to wear their respective practice jerseys and caps to the parade.
Westfield’s 13-year-old team has also been invited to be part of a pregame ceremony at Fenway Park on Sept. 9.
