12:09 a.m.: disturbance, Broadmoor Apartments, 434 Russell Road, a caller reports she was held against her will at Broadmoor Apartments but escaped with the help of a neighbor of the suspect, the responding officer reports the suspect said that the caller had been drinking with her and she did not want her to drive in an intoxicated state since her children are also in the car, the officer noted that the suspect showed obvious symptoms of acute alcohol intoxication while the caller had no signs of being intoxicated, the caller said she does not wish to pursue criminal charges and left the area with her children;
9:10 a.m.: larceny, Southwick Road, a caller reports a water meter has been stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that a water meter with a backflow preventer which had been attached to a fire hydrant is missing, the caller estimated the value of the meter at about $2,000;
9:31 a.m.: unwanted guest, Broad Street, a caller reports a neighbor is causing an issue and they would like him served with a “no trespassing” order, the responding officer reports the subject was located on School Street and served with the order;
1:19 p.m.: unwanted guest, George Street, a caller reports a male party is sleeping on the front steps of his residence, the responding officer reports a known homeless man was sent on his way;
1:38 p.m.: identity fraud, Union Street, a resident came to the station to complain that his debit card was lost and misused, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he does not know where he lost the card which was in an envelope on which was written the PIN, the man said that he notified his bank but subsequently learned that the card was used at an ATM to make a $100 withdrawal;
2:42 p.m.: larceny, Powder Mil Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports her son borrowed her iPod and now a friend of his has it and will not surrender it to her, the responding officer reports the suspect said that he no longer has the iPod but he spoke with complainant and agreed to replace it;
3:18 p.m.: animal complaint, East Main Street, a caller reports two dogs are in a parked vehicle which has windows only cracked open, the dispatcher noted that the ambient temperature is 83 degrees, the responding officer reports the car is parked in direct sunlight, the operator returned to the car and asserted that the dogs were in no danger, a citation was issued;
5:00 p.m.: breaking and entering, Main Street, a resident came to the station to report that his residence was entered, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he left his home about 12:30 p.m. and returned about two hours later to find the door open, the man said that the deadbolt had been engaged when he left, the man said that a few dollars in coin were the only things found to be missing from the residence;
6:17 p.m.: larceny, Wayfield Avenue, a resident came to the station to complain that cash and newspapers were stolen from newspaper vending machines in the city, the responding officer reports the woman said that she services newspaper vending machines in the city and three other communities and when she did her route Wednesday she discovered no money or newspapers in any of the machines, the woman said that a recently discharged employee did not surrender his key;
6:41 p.m.; motor vehicle violation, Main Street, a patrol officer request a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
10:52 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street at Old Montgomery Road, a patrol officer reports he was southbound on North Elm Street when he observed headlights approaching on the one-way section of the roadway south of Old Montgomery Road, the officer reports he activated his cruiser’s take down light but the approaching vehicle did not stop and he had to swerve to avoid a collision, the officer reports he was able to use his cruiser to block the other vehicle’s progress and when he approached it he immediately noticed an odor of alcohol, the officer reports when he reached the car he observed that the operator displayed the classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication, the operator acknowledged drinking three beers and agreed to take a field sobriety test, Tina M. Beckett, 46, of 37 Woodmont St., West Springfield, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor (a third offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating the wrong way on a state highway, during the booking process the woman was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a city ordinance violation citation was issued.
