WESTFIELD- A fire happened Sunday night in a multi tenant dwelling at 363 Little River Road .
The fire began at approximately 6:22 p.m. in a building across the street from Fire Station 2 on Little River Road. Due to the proximity of the fire substation to the scene of the fire, an occupant of the building walked over to the fire station to alert the staff. Engine 2 arrived on scene at 6:25 p.m. and began fire suppression efforts. Crews put out the fire in approximately 20 minutes. There were no reported injuries.
“Through their suppression efforts, our firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire and save the building,” said Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bishop.
The fire department estimates that the fire caused $30,000 in damage to the building. The fire department believes the cause of the fire to have been improper disposal of smoking materials. One occupant was displaced from their residence due to the fire.
