Tag sale to benefit Southwick seniors

SOUTHWICK – The Friends of the Southwick Senior Center is hosting its second tag sale Sept. 12.
Organizer Pat McMahon said the event is set for Sept. 12 from 9-2 at Town Hall.
“The Friends has been rejuvenated over the last year or two and I got involved in April,” said McMahon. “Last year we had our first tag sale and it’s a fundraiser for senior programs.”
The Friends are seeking donations and volunteers to make the sale a success.
“People donate their items on Thursday and Friday, then volunteers will sort through everything Friday afternoon and the sale is Saturday,” said McMahon.
The tag sale will take place on the front lawn of Town Hall. Larger items will be priced individually, but McMahon said smaller items will be sorted on tables according to price.
“We will have a $2 table, a $4 table, etc.,” she said.
Donations can be dropped off at the Senior Center Sept. 10 from 12-2 p.m. and Sept. 11 from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
McMahon said the Friends will pay it forward and all items left at the end of the sale will be picked up by the Salvation Army.
Anyone who is able to volunteer to sort items or work at the event should contact McMahon at [email protected] .
Staff of the Center participate in the event as well.
“The director, Cindy Sullivan, is amazing and the entire staff helps,” said McMahon.
“We’re hoping this becomes an annual event and people save their items for us,” McMahon said.
