Tigers post shutout; Rams edged

SPRINGFIELD – The Westfield Voc-Tech girls’ soccer team broke open a 0-0 tie on the road with three unanswered second-half goals to blank Putnam 3-0 yesterday. Jackie Gaulin, Aedan Orr, and Steff Costa each scored a goal for Voc-Tech. Elena Levkha, Bri Curran, and Gaulin earned assists. Levkha had a solid game in the midfield.
Megan Illnicky (3 saves) earned the shutout in net for the Tigers, and made a momentum-changing save in the first half.

Monson 2, Southwick 1
Brooke Murphy scored in the 39th and 48th minutes to lead Monson to victory. Cassey Bay netted the lone goal for Southwick with five minutes remaining.
Rams’ goalie Megan Zabik finished with 15 saves.

Southwick 0, Monson 0
Ariel Bryant earned a shutout in net for Southwick. Bryant made four saves.
