Every three days or so, I have to make my way to the local convenience store to get three gallons of milk (yes, my family goes through a lot of milk). As always, there is some gambler in front of the store frantically scratching his or her instant tickets to see if they’d won anything.

So I bring up my three gallons of milk and usually there is someone buying instant tickets or cashing in instant tickets so I have to wait for the cashier to deal with the inconsiderate moron who is taking their time getting yet more instant tickets. They can see I am carrying three gallons of milk, which aren’t light, but they do not care. They drag ass telling the cashier, “Well, give me number 2, three number threes, no, make that a number three, and two number fours” and they can see I am obviously fuming as they take their time holding me up.

I feel like clonking them upside the head with one of the gallons of milk but don’t need the assault charge and court case and I know I have an explosive temper so I just let it go. However, these instant ticket junkies should start having a little respect for those of us who are waiting in line or, better yet, take your gambling habit to the casino where you have better odds of winning.

I took a shot at the instant ticket craze two decades ago with $2000 and only hit for $800 in winners. Those are a pretty bad investment or rate of return on your investment. Playing blackjack at a casino allots you a much better chance of winning. So my best advice would to quit throwing your money away on a losing proposition like instant tickets and give yourself a much better shot at winning at the casino or, if you are going to insist on throwing your money away on instant tickets, be considerate of those behind you trying to buy necessary items for their families.
