Tolland woman dies in car crash

SOUTHWICK – A Tolland woman is dead after crashing her car into a tree on Granville Road last night.
Nicole Dupuis, 20, was pronounced dead on the scene of the one-car accident that took place near 312 Granville Road.
Southwick Police Lt. David Ricardi said the crash took place around 11:10 p.m. last night. Dupuis’ blue Honda civic was traveling west when she drove off the road and into two trees.
The lone driver was deceased at the scene and was wearing her seat belt. No other information available at press time.
Southwick Fire Department (SFD) Chief Richard Anderson was the first responder at the scene, along with Southwick ambulance. Anderson said 15 members of the SFD responded to tones and stayed on scene until 2:30 a.m. with police and other emergency personnel.
“We received information that it was a fatality, so we accesed the vehicle immediately and tried vital signs,” said Anderson. “Two or three different people tried, just to be sure, but it was obvious she was deceased.”
Westfield paramedics also responded and attempted vital signs.
“She hit the tree sideways,” said Anderson. Dupuis’ body was extricated from her vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation by Southwick Police.
