WESTFIELD – The Friends of the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail hosted its final Tuesdays on the Trail” walk of the summer Tuesday evening. The group, consisting of both walkers and cyclists met up on the Main Street entrance to the rail trail.

Donna Greene took to the trail on foot Tuesday and said part of the reason for hosting these group walks is to showcase some of the local businesses in the vicinity of the trail.

“I want people to know that, if they are on the bike path, they can just get off the ramp and get Circuit Coffee,” said Greene.

The group walked approximately one mile round-trip, a fraction of the trail which now extends down to southern Connecticut. A few participants rode ahead on their bikes. This is the third year that the Friends group has organized the group walks, and the fourth time they have hosted one this summer.

Although the organized walks are over for the season, the Friends members hope residents will utilize the trail year-round on bike or foot.

Tuesday’s event was sponsored by Circuit Coffee. Previous sponsors of this summer’s Tuesdays on the Trail include the Westfield Museum and Munchy’s Malt Shop.
