UCC Second Church Presents Certificate of Appreciation to the Minister of First Church

The Second Congregational Church in Westfield presented Rev. Elva Merry Pawle, Minister of First Congregational Church, with a formal proclamation, thanking her for her work, and making her an Honorary Member of UCC Second Congregational Church. WESTFIELD – On Monday, members of the United Church of Christ, Second Congregational, in Westfield (Second Congregational Church) traveled downtown to First Congregational Church to present Rev. Elva Merry Pawle with a special proclamation, thanking her for her work and making her an honorary member of Second Congregational Church.

The proclamation thanked Rev. Pawle for the support she has provided to Second Church over the 14 years that she has been the sole pastor at First Church. The proclamation states, in part, “Rev. Pawle volunteered to serve as a resource and reference to Second Church during the search process that lead to the recent call of Rev. Hesse to serve as sole pastor of Second Church.”

The proclamation also states, “the United Church of Christ, Second Congregational Church in Westfield has benefitted greatly through the many and varied interactions between First and Second Church nurtured and inspired by Rev. Pawle.”

The Proclamation was signed by Richard Foley, Moderator, and Rev. Barbara Hesse, Minister of UCC Second Congregational Church.

Rev. Pawle will retire August 5, 2018.  In September, she will begin work as a Designated Term Part Time Interim Pastor at First Congregational Church of Millbury, United Church of Christ.
